If the can doesn’t say 100% tequila, it’s either a malt product (beer) or a MIXTO. A Mixto is a blend of 51% tequila and 49% unspecified distillate, often sourced from sugar cane. These typically include additives such as caramel color, oak extract, or glycerin. It’s these Mixtos and their chemical additives that can lead to hangovers.
